David Smith is a dedicated and experienced educator with a passion for student success. He holds a Bachelor of Music Education in Choral Music from Ouachita Baptist University and a Master of Science in Education in Advanced Instructional Studies with a specialization in English as a Second Language from Henderson State University. David is enjoying his 23rd year of marriage to Whitney Smith, Bethel Band Director. Together they have two boys, Elliott and Carter.
With 18 years of teaching experience, David has spent seven years in the 8th grade world history classroom and the past eleven years teaching 8th and 9th grade mathematics, including Algebra I. He has also specialized in supporting English language learners, teaching 8th grade math and 9th grade Algebra I for ESOL students.
His commitment to student engagement, instructional excellence, and fostering a love for learning has earned him recognition, including being named the 2010-2011 Goza Middle School Teacher of the Year in Arkadelphia, Arkansas and the 2024-2025 Bryant Junior High School Teacher of the Year in Bryant, Arkansas. He is known for building positive, encouraging relationships with his students which he believes to be the foundational element to any good teacher.
